Bush to veto ban on waterboarding

Trash Dispatch:

Bush to veto ban on waterboardingBush

Finally Bush does something right! or does he?

The San Francisco Chronicle writes;

  • President Bush is to veto legislation Saturday meant to ban the CIA from using waterboarding and other harsh interrogation tactics and will argue that the agency needs to use tougher methods than the US military to wrest information from terrorism[link]

TrashDispatch: In the old days, waterboarding was not used, as interrogators used rubber hoses and bamboo shoots. Now, waterboarding is used as a more “humane” form of torture. This new anti-waterboarding bill however, would make waterboarding illegal so that interrogators would only be able to “ask” known terrorist, “would you Pretty Please tell us which building your going to blow up next?”.

The argument FOR the bill of course, is waterboarding’s inhumanity, and the fear that it will be used against the innocent.

So let’s see. One cost Lives, while the other cost innocence and humility. Hmmm?
