Trash Dispatch: Congressman Joe Barton of Texas (Part 1)

Trash Dispatch: Congressman Joe Barton of Texas.

First the facts. Congressman Joe Barton was born in Waco, Texas to Bess Wynell Buice and Larry Linus Barton. Congressman Barton graduated from Waco High School and attended Texas A&M University in College Station where he received a B.S. in industrial engineering in 1972. He also received a M.Sc. in industrial administration from Purdue University in 1973, and was in the private sector until 1981, when he became a White House Fellow and served under Secretary of Energy James B. Edwards. Later, he began consulting for Atlantic Richfield Oil and Gas Co. (a prerequisite to serving in the government), before being elected to Congress in 1984.

Barton was elected to represent Texas's Sixth Congressional seat in his first attempt, defeating Democratic challenger Dan Kubiak with 56% of the vote in a contest to succeed Phil Gramm, who left his seat to run for the United States Senate that year. He received 88% of the vote in 2000, 71% of the vote in 2002 against Democratic challenger Felix Alvarado, and 66% of the vote in 2004 against Democratic challenger Morris Meyer.

In 1993, Barton ran in the special election for the U.S. Senate seat vacated by the resignation of Lloyd Bentsen, who became Secretary of the Treasury in the Clinton administration. Barton finished third in the contest and missed a runoff slot.

Congressman Barton is the Ranking Minority Member on the Energy & Commerce Committee. (Energy and Commerce. I guess his former employment with the Atlantic Richfield Oil and Gas Company came in handy.)

Hmmm? Yep, says HERE at Opensecrets.org that Congressman Joe Barton received close to $2 million in campaign contributions from energy companies and their political action committees since he has been in office. The oil and gas industry has been a top industry contributor since the beginning And the 2 Million Dollars I mentioned doesn't include contributions from individuals who Work for petrochemical companies like the employees at Anadarko Petroleum who, contributed $50,000 to Barton's campaign just Last year.

Another interesting fact is that the "numbers" posted at Opensecrets.org, "Don't Add Up"! And since the Trash Dispatch doesn't do Accounting, we can't tell you if that's good or bad. But as it's documented that he only spent $2000 of his Own money, for his own campaign, we can tell you that "Some Thing's fishey"... Wait a minute, make that, "Something's Oily".

Like in 2005 when, Congressman Joe Barton introduced the Gasoline for America's Security Act of 2005 to the House of Representatives in what he said was a response to the "present" (2005) energy crisis. The most significant part of the bill gave the authority for the government to subsidize the construction of new refineries for petrochemical companies which would allow for oil companies to construct refineries on military bases and American waters offshore.

Now, don't get me wrong. I was all for this bill as it would also include a clause in which several environmental restrictions on the oil companies would be repealed. Not that I'm against the environment! But, from 1995 to 2001, American oil companies shut down 24 oil refineries along the West Coast for that very reason. Not that they were polluting for My sake. But because Wacko Environmentalist are nothing more than Capitalist Swine who have always cared more about Shaming Me for being human, than about protecting the environment. And just in case your wondering why I used the label "Capitalist Swine" to describe "Wacko Environmentalist" who are typically "Liberal Communist", it is because "that's" the whole reason for the shame! To so Brainwash me, and You, into believing that "It's All OUR Fault", as their True purpose in politics, is to "Extort our Sympathies, and Guilt" in a covert effort to Shame us, and separate us from our money. But I digress.

And now, unfortunately, as this post has become far to long. And as I'm sure most of you did not come here to read about "Wacko Environmentalist". I will end this post by saying, Congressman Joe Barton of Texas is Not the man whom he appears to be. But for those of you who would like to to know more, I promise, a Part 2 (asap) as I not yet addressed, Congressman Joe Barton's Advocacy of Illegal Immigration. Yes, that's right. Congressman Joe Barton is a Traitor! And you have only to hear his own words, to know that what I say is true. So Stay Tuned, as the best is yet to come.
