Trash Dispatch: Continued from, “A Ghost Story for Halloween! (part 1)”.
Halloween!
Trick or Treat!
Smell my feet.
Good me something good to eat.
Children. It’s all a game to them.
But for adults, it’s nothing short of Sinister!
And so it was, as soon, as I walked into that house.
A chill, ran up my spine. The hairs, on the back of my neck, and on my arms, stood up, and tingled. It was as if they knew, we shouldn’t be here. As if we weren’t welcomed here. And in deed, you could feel the evil that lurked inside.
“GET OUT!!!” the house seem to say.
And I was all for obedience.
But for the fact that my “pride” was at stake, I guess I would have left. But I couldn’t leave, now. I mean, I couldn’t let my girl friend know, that I was SCARED! So I stayed. Sweat running down my body, the house was strangely Cold.
Oh, Lord. If you just get me out of this one…,” I prayed.
Teresa (my girl friend), was Happy to see me, of course. And she even fixed me up a fine dinner, with a movie, that she had rented. It was a “chick flick”, of course. But the movie was now over. And it was time to go to bed.
Muhahahaa! The witching hour approached. The truly unfortunate thing about all this, was the fact that, even though Teresa was my friend. That’s all that she was. And I, would have to sleep on the couch. In fact, the very same couch, on which Mike (her brother) had slept.
I convinced myself that both Mike and his sister were “mistaken”, and that they had just “imagined” things. However, I couldn’t account for the dog. Dogs don’t bark for no reason. And they especially don’t bark, at the ceiling of a house, unless there is “something” up there.
Apprehensive (and even Scared), I laid upon the couch, with a shortness of breath. “T”, had brought me a pillow, and a blanket, and asked if I was comfortable. I said “yes”, and then she too was off to bed.
Now, I was alone! Eyes Wide Open, I watched. And Listened. And shivered. I can’t tell you how long I laid there before I finally went to sleep, but, it seemed like hours as I kept waiting for daylight. Slowly, I drifted off . And fell fast asleep.
Suddenly! I Woke!
And in hearing a very Eerie, and Shrieking noise,
I knew that “something” was there.
Quickly, I pulled the covers up over my head. I was Frightened to death. I did not know what I had heard, but I knew that it was evil. And so I “hid”, even as a child.
“Wait a minute! This Can’t be Real!” i told myself.
“There’s no such thing as Ghost!”
Somehow, (after a long talk with myself), I mustered up the courage to pull the covers down, just enough so that I could peek out. It was then, that I SAW IT!!!
Oh dear god it was true! What Mike told me was true. A demon, with Large Red Glowing Eyes!!! And he was looking, right at me!
Oh sh!t, sh!!, SH!T!!! How do I get myself into these things. Again I covered my head. Now Shaking and Sweating even more profusely than ever. I felt, as though I was about to have a heart attack. And I couldn’t breath, as I had used up all the oxygen under the covers. And I wasn’t about to let anymore in, I can tell you that right now. Whatever that thing was, it could stay outside the covers for all I cared. And come mourning, I would just “act” like I never heard or saw anything. But again, I started talking to myself.
Wait a minute! Why isn’t that Ghost, or Demon, or whatever it is… Why hadn’t it attacked me? And what was it REALLY???
You see, the problem is, or was. Is that I ware glasses. And don’t see to good, with them off. Now for the next problem. My glasses, lay out on the floor, in front of the couch, outside the covers. And I knew what that meant.
Without, un-covering my head. I slowly, Cautiously, slip my hand down the side of the couch, and felt around on the floor until, I Found them!
Grasping them, I quickly pulled my hand back under the covers. With both hands, and head, under the covers. I placed my glasses over my eyes. Now, I was ready!
Now I would See, what I would see!
And no matter what happened next, at least, I would have faced my fear.
Slowly, Gently, I pulled the covers down to see…,
a digital clock, hanging on the wall, with Big Red “LED” numbers.
It was 4:00am in the mourning. But having exposed the demon with Big Red Eyes, I rolled over, and went back to sleep.
